WOW! what a week in Paradise. The flight to Cancun from Miami was $275 round trip and the rental car was $87 for a week!! and my Rental at Sunset Fisherman's Village at PlayaCar with VTSR was only $525 for the week for the 3 of us and we could have had 4 for that price!!

The best part of all of this is my week was March 2-9, 2013 Spring Break and wait till you see the pictures.... All of this for under $900 USD and $100 USD spent at Walmart for Booze and Food and you have my whole budget!!! WOW! BEAT THAT IF YOU CAN and if you can let me know about your vacation place because at mine after a 30 mile drive south from the Cancun Airport I had a meet and greet sign in at the resort in Playa Del Carmen with free drinks and food before I was taken to our suite with an Ocean View of the Pool, Jacuzzi, Beach, and Cozumal ( Second Biggest Coral Reef in the world) in the distance across the water.

The Fisherman's Village had free bikes to ride around PlayaCar and Playa Del Carmen downtown which was great for seeing all of the Mayan Temple ruins all over PlayaCar. The best shopping of the week was on the 5th Avenue Promanade that must have been a mile long of sidewalk cafes, bars, and shops all along the beach that was packed with sun worshipers recovering from the night before in the clubs that line the beach. Stay away from the shopping on cruise ship days for the best deals and you bargain for everything. Happy Hour Specials all day long on the beach and 2 beers for 20 Pesos is pretty common. OH Yes did I forget to say 13 Pesos to the US Dollar!!!!

Back to Fisherman's Village and my daily routine of free sailing in one of the 2 Hobie Cats which was my choice over the Kayaks that you had to row. Let the wind do the work! And WOW! the crystal clear water and Talcum Powder Beaches of the Yucatan can't be beat. BEWARE of Sun Burn as it is easy to get on the water and this bright beach! 40SPF is suggested.

We didn't use the OPTIONAL Meal Plan the resort had to offer as we chose to spend our $100 for the week at Walmart and cook our own meals for the days while we were on the property which staying on the property was hard to do with all of the places and events you can attend on the Mayan Riveria. We spent one day at Xel Ha Eco Park with all you can eat and drink for $79 each and another day at Tulum Mayan Ruins.

The biggest challenge we had all week was leaving this paradise because we ran out of time before we could do some of the great deep sea fishing or the half day of Yachting and snorkeling the resort had to offer. Next time plan for 2 weeks!!!

Room Tip: All units have a ocean view and 2 of the 5 building have an elevator if your on the upper floors

This is our seventh year at the Fisherman and the rooms are starting to get worn. We stayed in a two bedroom and it has the same furniture that it had seven years ago. They are updating some of the studios by painting them and replacing the TV and bed. For the rest of the furniture they are only recovering it. You have to ask what they are using the assessment they collect ever 5 years for. They are clearly not putting the money back into the Fisherman. There has been some money spent on beach furniture and a couple of Hobie Cats, but clearly not the $45k collected per unit. I am surprised that they have maintained their RCI rating of Gold Crown. All this being said the reason we keep returning is location, location, location.

“We had a great time”

We just returned from our first trip to Playa del Carmen. We went with friends who have a timeshare at Sunset Fisherman Spa & Resort. We had a wonderful time. The resort is small but well maintained and located right on the beach. We did not have the "all inclusive" for food & drinks but we did eat breakfast at the restaurant several times and dinner once. The food was very good. Our room was cleaned beautifully every day. The walk to 5th Avenue was easy and especially enjoyable on the beach. We had wonderful massages at the spa. Hobycats, kayaks, fins & snorkels, etc., are all available to use at no charge. We can't wait to return.

Just returned from our yearly trip to Fishermen's and had the Day Spa with Brenda this year! She is absolutely wonderful! A beautiful smile, charming personality and those hands are magic! She's just a petite little thing but boy is she strong!

Love Fishermen's because it is small and the people working there are wonderful but it does need some upgrading........
